The Variety WA Toy Bank brings happiness to the lives of countless children through the collection of new toys, distributed to women’s refuges and shelters around the state.
In 1994, a request was made to Variety WA for funds to purchase toys for children taken from domestic violence situations and sheltered in women’s refuges. The result was the formation of Toy Bank, a committee headed by the lovable Holly Wood; man about town and Social Writer for The Sunday Times. The Toy Bank Committee organises and hosts several morning teas and luncheons throughout the year, with guests paying a small ticket price and donating a new toy at each event. The toys are then collected and distributed annually to refuges and shelters in both regional and metropolitan WA. | |
